It's almost time for UVLUG to elect a new President to fill Club Senator
and Program Director seats for Summer and Fall semesters.
Here's how it's going to work this time around (and hopefully for a long
time to come). Anyone that wants to participate in UVLUG leadership can
either run for President (full-time students only), volunteer for
Senatorial service (students only), or volunteer as a Program Director
(anyone). This is done by announcing candidacy (or volunteering - as
the case may be) on the discussion mailing list (list at uvlug dot org).
A simple sentence will do.
(Note that you don't need a nomination to run. On the other hand, if
you'd like to nominate somebody who you think would be a good leader,
please do so.)
There is only 1 elected position --that of the President. After
elections take place, the new President will survey the volunteers
**which include all presidential candidates who didn't win the
presidency** and assigned them to Senatorial or Directorial positions
according to their skill sets, position preferences, etcetera. This
basically means that if you want to serve, chances are that you will.
So, if you would like to run for President, please announce your
candidacy now. If you don't have the time that it will take to be a
successful President, please volunteer as a Senator or Program Director.
A list of Senatorial positions that you might get picked for is here:

A list of programs needing Program Directors is here:

Note that there is a lot to be done, and there's room for everybody who
would like to volunteer. Also be aware that you don't have to be a
Linux guru to help out, because we'll happily train you at anything you
need to know. You basically just have to be willing to help out.
We will close the window for Presidential candidacy at 11:59 Monday
evening, and we'll hold elections shortly thereafter (details to come).
It's a great opportunity for leadership and networking, so announce
your candidacy or volunteer now!
If you have any questions or nominations, please post them to the
discussion list as well.
